A small dose of vitamin D has been added to prevent a possible epidemic deficiency. Several studies show that vitamin D deficiency can promote the development of certain types of cancer, including colorectal, breast and prostate cancer. Vitamin D is also an effective mediator of the immune system. The effective dose of vitamin D varies greatly from person to person, and for this reason, we have only added a low dose of 100 IU per capsule. The best way to measure your vitamin D needs is with a 25-OH vitamin D blood test, and the optimal result is between 75 and 150 nmol/L.
Green tea extract is used in our formula for its exceptional antioxidant properties. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) extract is one of the most powerful active ingredients in green tea. The addition of 90 mg of ECGC, standardized to 45%, is equivalent to several cups of green tea. Green tea cleanses the body, promoting the elimination of toxins that are harmful to healthy metabolism.
Curcumin is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-carcinogenic and liver detoxifying agent… used for over 2500 years in India to treat inflammation, intoxication and cancer, curcumin's reputation precedes it. We use it in this formula to promote detoxification of the body, particularly because of its strong effect on the liver.
DIM (diindolylmethane) is a cruciferous indole found in broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts… DIM has a positive effect on hormonal health by promoting the proper functioning of certain enzymes that stimulate healthy estrogen metabolism in women and men. DIM adjusts estradiol levels by converting it to less harmful metabolites.
Calcium D-glucarate is the salt of D-glucaric acid. Taking a calcium D-glucarate supplement inhibits beta-glucuronidase, a phase 2 detoxification enzyme. Throughout this phase, carcinogenic chemicals, steroid hormones, and other fat-soluble toxins bind to glucoronidic acid in the liver and are then excreted through the biliary tract. This process is called glucoronidation, and it is the primary method of excreting estrogens such as estradiol, as well as cholesterol and a number of other carcinogens.
Bioperine (piperine) is the active ingredient in black pepper. It is now being used to help increase the bioavailability and absorption of certain natural compounds. Green tea EgCG, resveratrol, and curcumin are particularly affected. Bioperine will significantly improve the bioavailability and blood concentration of these natural ingredients.
Trans-resveratrol is probably one of the most popular phenolic compounds, especially for its fantastic antioxidant capacity. This still is remarkable indeed, at low concentrations, studies have shown that resveratrol has the ability to block the actions of estrogen and even block part of its production at higher doses. Its action on estrogen is based in part on the fact that resveratrol is a SERM (selective estrogen receptor modulator) like the drugs tamoxifen and clomiphene. This alone makes it a great ally in the fight against hormonal imbalances that are increasingly common these days. More good news has been discovered in this compound, the powerful anti-inflammatory properties of resveratrol could slow or even prevent the development of certain pathologies such as diabetes and cardiovascular problems.
Sulforaphane
It is common knowledge that cruciferous vegetables are known to aid in their anti-cancer properties and to positively modulate estrogen levels. For many years, the diindolymethane present in these vegetables has been used to promote healthy estrogen metabolism. It is only recently that science has isolated another very interesting compound present in cruciferous vegetables, particularly broccoli sprouts, the powerful sulforaphane. Known since the late 90s, this isothiocyanate is known for its anti-cancer properties including inducing cellular apoptosis (death). It also has the ability to reduce estrogen receptors and could heptaic detoxification of estrogens and xenoestrogens. It is really important to check the source of sulforaphane because this compound is really fragile.
Recommended dose: Adults: Take 1 capsule daily with a meal. Take a few hours before or after taking other medications.
Recommended duration of use: Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 12 weeks.
Contraindications: Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Discontinue use at the onset of joint pain or hot flashes. If you develop liver-related symptoms (e.g., abdominal pain, jaundice) or symptoms of low estrogen levels, discontinue use and consult a healthcare practitioner.
Warnings: Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are trying to conceive, taking medications, have or are predisposed to cancer, have gallstones or a bile duct obstruction, have a stomach ulcer or excess stomach acid, have an iron deficiency, are taking medications or natural health products, have a liver disorder or symptoms of low estrogen (such as joint pain, mood changes, changes in libido, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness or irregular menstrual periods). Consult a health care practitioner if you have a liver disorder. Stop use if you develop symptoms of liver problems such as yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice), abdominal pain, dark urine, sweating, nausea, unusual tiredness and/or loss of appetite and consult a health care practitioner. Rare and unpredictable cases of liver damage associated with products containing green tea extract have been reported (in Canada and internationally).
Store in a cool, dry place. Do not use if seal is damaged or missing. Keep out of reach of children.
